What Is The Difference Between LED and Incandecent Lights?

LED Light

Light Emitting Diode (LED) is one of the most popular lights and has become a standard lighting for pools and spas. LED lights electricity is passed through a microchip which illuminates the bulb and produces very little heat. This means LED lights run on very few watts and will produce less energy per hour of illumination. These lights have high lumens which means they provide increased brightness and vibrancy. LED lights have about 20,000 hours of power which makes these long-lasting. These lights typically require fewer replacements as they contain tough diodes. LED lights have microprocessors that allow them to exhibit a wide range of colors. This allows for theme lighting in near-endless combinations of colors. 

Incandescent Light

Incandescent lights use electricity and a filament that produces a significant amount of heat. The average incandescent light bulb produces between 1,400 and 1,750 lumens per 100 watts. These lights use 100 watts of energy per hour and this means you are essentially using a lot of energy and will go through burnouts faster. Changing incandescent lights are a hassle and the heat they produce can take a toll on the gaskets. This can result in additional service to your lighting grid. These types of lights are extremely outdated and will start to become hard to find as the years go on. 

In conclusion, LED lights are brighter, more efficient, and last longer. They also offer more color and installment options. These lights use less energy and work at about 80% efficiency. LED bulbs have about 10 times the life expectancy of a traditional bulb. These can be used for a variety of applications and is more durable. LED lights can be automated with most models offering an optional remote control. Most will also have integrated smartphone apps for those who prefer a more easier way to control your pool and spa lights.
