Pentair Racer Turbine Kit (360259) is a replacement part made by Pentair. The same high-quality materials were used to manufacture the original factory part. Making this a genuine OEM product. This turbine cover was designed to be a part of the drive system. Its purpose is to not only be a protective cover for the turbine but also to provide the high-pressure water that comes from the booster pump needed to rotate the turbine. The turbine then sends power to the wheels via the drive shaft kit giving the cleaner the ability to cover the entirety of the surface of the pool as it cleans.
About The Gear Box
The gearbox kit (360426) is a replacement part that was made by Pentair from the same high-quality materials used to manufacture the original factory part making this a genuine OEM product. This gearbox was designed to be part of the cleaner’s maneuverability system as it is the mechanism that shuts the timer valve on or off when the valve shuts down water flow to parts of the cleaner (via the water management system) and sends this high-pressure water to the parts needed to reverse the cleaner out of trouble areas like the steps, corners, and even large drain covers that rest on the bottom surface of the pool. This part is gray and rests below the timer valve which is connected to the water management system which disperses high-pressure water throughout the cleaner and parts that need the water to operate, however, these parts are a little difficult to reach as you will need to remove the wheels and outer layers of body cover to access them.
How To Remove and Replace
Before you can remove and replace the turbine and gearbox, you will need to get to the manifold of the cleaner. This will make everything easier so you do not have to work around all of the other parts of the cleaner. The first thing to remove is the turbine because it is blocking the gearbox. To remove the turbine, you will need to remove the bearing and then lift the turbine up and gently wiggle and pull the whole turbine out. To remove the other bearing you can push it right out. After the turbine has been removed you can go ahead and lift the gearbox right out. Now to replace the gearbox you just have to set it right in place but make sure it is on the right side. To replace the turbine, you will need to put the bearing back in a set hole and make sure you are careful with it. Now you will set the bar in there and lay it down and you can put the last bearing on the other side.
In this video, we walk you through how to remove and replace the Gearbox as well as the Turbine designed for the Pentair Racer and Racer LS pressure-side pool cleaners. This gearbox was designed to be part of the cleaner’s maneuverability system as it is the mechanism that shuts the timer valve on or off. The turbine was created to provide power and rotating capabilities to the cleaner's wheels so it can make its way around all of the surfaces of your pool as it cleans.
