About The Product
The scrubber gear kit (360238) is a replacement part made by Pentair. The same high-quality materials are used to manufacture the original factory part. Making this a genuine OEM product. These gears were designed to work with the scrubber kit as they transfer rotating power from the large wheels directly to these gears which rotates the scrubber on the front side of the cleaner. It cleans the finer algae and debris that the Racer wouldn’t normally be able to pick up on its own.
This kit comes with a small white gear, ball bearing, and screw that holds the black gear rotator in place along with the rest of the kit. these parts are NOT sold separately and can only be purchased and replaced with this kit. When installing you want to use a handheld screwdriver instead of a drill so that way the screw is not over-torqued which can cause damage to the rotator and its surrounding plastic parts.
How To Remove and Replace
The first thing you will need to do is take the front wheels off and the bottom cover will need to come off as well. The only tool you will need to do this quick fix is a Phillips head screwdriver. There is only one screw you will need to remove, this is located in the indentation of the mold where the scrubber goes. Once you get the screw off, the cover of the gear and the gear should come right off. You will need to remove the bearing as well by simply pushing it out.
To install the part, you will first need to put the bearing back in. When putting the bearing in, you will need to make sure the side with the balls will face directly towards the cleaner. This will reduce the risk of getting any kind of dirt or debris in between the balls. You will now go ahead and reinstall the gear and this simply slides right into the middle. Finally, you can now install the cover this will need to line up with the top of the gear. The last thing to do is tighten the screw back down and you are all set.
