Maintenance Monday: A&A Style 2 vs. Gamma Series 2
Welcome to another Magnificent Monday at ePoolSupply. Each week we like to discuss helpful tips and tricks regarding the pool industry. Today we will be discussing the differences between the A&A Style 2 & the updated Gamma Series 2 cleaning heads. Owning an infloor pool cleaning system can be quite a confusing adventure but it helps to have someone there by your side guiding you through each step of the process. Let's dive in!
A&A Style 2
The A&A Style 2 is one of the most popular Pop-Up heads on the market.
First released in 1994, the A&A Style 2 continued the legacy A&A started; providing pool owners an ease-of-mind when it comes to pool maintenance. The A&A Style 2 rotates through twelve positions ensuring 360-degree coverage. Over the years A&A has used many names such as Jet Clean, Quick Clean, and Magna Sweep on the Style 2 however, they are all the same pop-up head.
The cleaning heads are easily removed and installed from the Style 2 Collars with the A&A Style 2 Tool. We also carry brand new OEM Round O-Rings to guarantee a tight seal and prevent debris from entering the floor fitting.
The Style 2 is available in two designs: High Flow and Low Flow. High Flow pop-ups are meant for floor installation to ensure a bigger cleaning radius. The High Flow heads feature a 7/16" orifice to maximize cleaning power. Low Flow pop ups are meant for steps & benches, the smaller output creates the perfect pressure for those hard-to-reach areas. The Low Flow heads feature a 1/4" orifice to ensure proper cleaning pressure.
A&A Gamma Series 2 Standard
Introduced mid-2012, the Gamma 2 utilizes a bigger locking tab to guarantee a seamless fit into your existing Style 2 Collars. Easily diagnose or install these cleaning heads with the A&A Style 2 Tool. A&A has also made some improvements to the spring which allows the head to pop up fully when the pump is running at lower RPM's; a big plus for anyone who has recently switched over to a Variable Speed pump!
Another new feature on the Gamma Series 2 Standard is the four-in-one Adjustable Nozzle which eliminates the need to choose between High Flow and Low Flow. Be sure to check out the instructional video below!
The flow rates are as follows:
- 1/4" Orifice rated at 6 GPM
- 3/8" Orifice rated at 12 GPM (This is the same size as the original "Low Flow")
- 7/16" Orifice rated at 18 GPM (This is the same size as the original "High Flow")
- 9/16" Orifice rated at 30 GPM
A&A Gamma Series 2 Venturi
The Gamma Series 2 Venturi uses pinholes on the top of the head to draw in extra water and add a cleaning boost for those hard-to-reach areas. Venturi Cleaning Heads combine a 3/8" nozzle on the inside with a 7/16" outer nozzle to create a unique laminar path giving the cleaning head its patented cleaning boost. The Venturi option DOES NOT feature the Adjustable Nozzle like the Gamma Series 2 Standard however, they are suitable for any application in the pool except for top steps.
