How to Repair an A&A QuikWater Leveler

For today's blog, I will be going over how to repair the Pentair In-Floor formerly known as the A&A Quik water leveler when it breaks at the union at the bottom. I will also be going over a little bit about the product as well. I have also added a video at the bottom of this blog that our pool professional has made to show you exactly how to do this and give you some helpful tips. About The Product

The Quik water leveler resolves the need to refill your pool with a garden hose. There is no need to worry about overfilling, flooding, or burning out your pool pump.  Not only does this ensure the safe maintenance of your pool’s system, but also saves your time for the more important things.

The Pentair In-Floor (A&A) water leveler float assembly (542486) is compatible with the Pentair In-Floor (A&A) water Quik water leveler. This assembly includes a silt screen, feeder tube, and a restrictor plate to control the incoming flow of water to the unit. Composed of ABS plastic, the unit is designed to withstand harsh elements. The float assembly threads into the bottom of the housing.

How To Repair 

The first thing to do is to take out the water leveler float, this should be an easy unscrew. To take out the restrictor seal, just add a little water pressure and it should pop right out. Pentair In-Floor (A&A) does make a repair kit this will be either schedule 40 (542490), schedule 80 (542491), or street 90 (542492). This will all depend on the pipes you have, in the video below our pool professional shows you exactly how each repair will fit according to the pipe you have. When looking down in the water leveler you will see a hole and this is where the repair kit will go. Before you put the repair kit in, you have to Dremel out the hole at the bottom of the water leveler to match the size of your pipe. Before you start using the Dremel make sure the water is turned off to the water leveler. You will also need to block off the return on the inside of the pool to make sure there is no water coming to the leveler. Then you will want to make sure the leveler is bone dry so you do not electrocute yourself. These steps are very important before you start using the Dremel. Once you have Dremel to the exact shape you need, you will need to glue the repair kit in and push it down hard so it stays and does not move. Let the repair kit sit overnight without any water in the leveler, this will ensure the glue is fully dry. After the glue has fully dried, you can put the water leveler float assembly in. Finally, you can turn the water back on and everything should work like normal again.
