About The Product
The large axle with sand gravel guard (C66) is a replacement part made by Polaris. Making this a genuine OEM product you can trust. This axle assembly was designed to be one of 2 axle assemblies needed to house the external parts. They help aid in the maneuverability of the cleaner, such parts as the wheels, tires (max trax) or tanktrax, ball bearings, and wheel washers. When these parts are combined, they give the cleaner the ability to cover the entire surface of your pool while it sucks and pulls up dirt and debris.
This part is bolted to the bottom of the frame and is white with a large sand and gravel guard that helps keep out any outside influence or debris from the internal parts of the cleaner. This makes both axles easy to locate and replace when needed because they are attached by two pan head screws w/ lock washers that lock them into the frame.
How To Remove and Replace
The first thing you will need to do is remove the wheels. To remove the wheels, you will need to remove the hubcaps and pull the wheel right out. Once that is done, you will now have access to the guard. The only tool you will need is a Phillips head screwdriver. Right behind the gravel guard, there are two axle plates with two screws and each screw has its own locking washer. Go ahead and remove the screws. Once removed, the whole axle and gravel guard should come right off. To replace the axle and gravel guard, you will need to line it up and screw it back in. It is important that you do not use a power tool for this or else you might crack the base.
