How To Clean Your Pool After A Pool Party

The first thing you need to do is clean and organize your deck and patio. Organizing everything on your patio and making sure all trash is thrown away will help ensure nothing falls into the pool while you are cleaning it.

Hose down your pool deck and patio, and use your pool brush to gently scrub away any areas where food or drink has spilled. Be sure to spray away from your pool. Ensure all pool toys are out of the water and give them a quick rinse. Chlorine and other pool chemicals can eat away at the lining of pool floats over time. Once all the pool toys are clean and dry, store them in a cool dry place to keep them safe from the sun's damage.

After your deck and patio are cleaned up, determine whether you need to put any pool equipment back in place. If you have taken any pool equipment out, for example your pool cleaner or chlorine floater, you should put that back in.

The next step is to skim your pool. This means using your skimmer net to remove any large pieces of debris from the water. After that, scrub down the walls and floor of your pool with a brush to loosen up any dirt or algae.

If you have a pool vacuum cleaner, let it run for a full cycle to clean up all the dirt and debris that has fallen to the ground; the same goes for your pop-up heads. Once the water is clear of all debris, turn your pool pump and filter on to start circulating and filtering the pool water. Let your pool equipment run continuously for at least 12 hours.

Inspect the skimmer and pump strainer baskets for any debris, and empty them if necessary. The last step is to test your pool water and balance your chemicals.

1. Clean and organize your deck and patio

Throw trash away and organize everything so it does not fall into the pool. Take pool toys out, clean and dry them and store them in a cool place.

2. Put pool equipment back

Put any equipment back if you took anything out.

3. Skim, brush, and vacuum your pool

Skim all large debris and use your brush to loosen up any dirt or algae on your pool walls and floor.

4. Run the pool pump and filter

Let your pump and pool filter run continuously for at least 12 to ensure the water is thoroughly filtered and circulated. Inspect the skimmer and pump strainer baskets for any debris, and empty them if necessary.

5. Test and balance the water

Finally, test your pool water. This is what your levels should look like:

Total Alkalinity: 80-120 ppm
PH: 7.4-7.6
Calcium Hardness: 200-400 ppm
Cyanuric Acid: 30-50 ppm
