Hello and welcome! Today we’re going to be discussing the new lineup of pumps from Waterway. Waterway for those not aware is a California-based company striving to deliver an extensive range of products since 1973. Waterway Plastics focuses on spa and pool pumps, filters, automation systems, spa jets, swim jets, and vinyl housings. Earlier this year Waterway released a series of single and variable-speed pumps called the Power Defender series. These pumps are great and worth looking into for your new pool or if you’re looking for an upgrade. So, without further ado, let’s get started.

                So, the lineup today is the Power Defender 110, Power Defender 270 Variable Speed, Power Defender 140 Variable Speed Dual Voltage, and the Power Defender 165 Variable Speed pumps. Now, these pumps have many similarities beyond the power defender name. All are drop-in replacements for the Super Pump and the SuperFlo pool pumps. What does this mean? Well, it simply means that if your pool is already plumbed for either of the mentioned pumps, then any Power Defender pumps will already be compatible with your plumbing. All Power Defender pumps are both D.O.E and C.E.C compliant. This means that all the pumps satisfy the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) and the California Energy Commission (CEC) requirements. All Power Defender pumps also come equipped with Silicon Carbide Viton Shaft Seals which provide superior wear and chemical resistance. Before we go any further, I would like to take a moment to talk about the Power Defender 110 (Pictured below). This pump stands out from all the others we will be breaking down due to the fact it’s a single-speed pump whereas all the other pumps we will be talking about are all variable speed.

                As stated, the Power Defender 110 Inground Pool Pump is a single-speed pump. The 110 in the name refers to its horsepower which is 1.10.  It also holds the title of one of the quietest pumps in the industry. This pump also comes with a durable corrosion-resistant plastic body and a see-through lid.

                Now let’s move on to the variable speed pumps, the high-performance & ultra-quiet PD-140, PD-165, and PD-270. Besides all being variable speed, these pumps all come equipped with built-in automatic freeze production and Silicon Carbide Viton Shaft Seals which provide fantastic wear and chemical resistance. As well as a powerful external fan that protects the motor against dirt and moisture and provides extremely cool operation of the motor.
